See the landmarks without missing the neighbourhoods.

Barcelona works best when timed attractions are balanced with markets, parks, the waterfront and ordinary street life.

Plan by area

  • Combine the Gothic Quarter and Born, then continue toward the waterfront.
  • Group major Modernist buildings in Eixample.
  • Give Gràcia time beyond a single landmark.
  • Use Montjuïc or Ciutadella when you need green space and a slower day.

Getting around

Metro, trams, buses and suburban rail cover the city efficiently. Pre-book only attractions you genuinely prioritise and verify official ticket sellers. Be alert to pickpocketing in crowded areas.

Eat

Use municipal markets for orientation, then explore neighbourhood bakeries, bars and Catalan cooking. Avoid judging the entire food scene by the busiest stretch of La Rambla.

A three-day plan

Day 1 · Old city and sea

Gòtic, Born, Ciutadella and a waterfront evening.

Day 2 · Modernisme

One pre-booked Gaudí highlight, an Eixample walk and dinner in Gràcia.

Day 3 · Your Barcelona

Choose Montjuïc, a beach morning, Poblenou or another neighbourhood instead of forcing every famous sight into the schedule.

Planning basis: official Barcelona tourism and TMB visitor transport guidance.
