Bangkok · Thailand

Use rail and river routes to make a vast city manageable.

Bangkok’s historic river, modern rail corridors, markets and neighbourhood food each deserve their own pace.

Plan balanced days

  • Start temple visits early, dress respectfully and follow posted rules.
  • Use river boats for useful transport as well as views.
  • Explore Chinatown when temperatures ease later in the day.
  • Keep one air-conditioned museum, mall or long lunch as a heat fallback.

Practical Bangkok

BTS and MRT are useful but do not cover every historic area. Use licensed transport and agree or meter fares correctly. Drink safe water, choose busy food vendors with good hygiene and respect local customs.
